Thanks for accepting my friendship.
I asked to join in the hopes someone is aware of the plight of 450+ workers in London, Ontario.
In a nutshell, Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) demanded they accept a 50% wage cut, which of course they refused. Who could ... locked into life's food, car, housing, etc costs built upon what you have built up over decades working at that plant?
CAT then locked them out and has moved the operation to Muncie in the USA.
It is sickening.
BUT, CAT wants to remain and profit in Canada. They are making billions here through a pyramid of a vast number of subsidiaries, CAT stores, and other revenue streams on our soil. A large part of this CAT income is derived from government contracts; therefore all taxpayers are supporting CAT's multi-million dollar executive salaries and their very profitable bottom line.
Is it fair to take away Canadian jobs but still profit from Canada? Of course not.
Boycott CAT in Canada has been formed asking them to leave Canada, letting decent competitors fill their void.
Please join!
Our first boycott campaign is a documentary, "Smack the Cat" explaining what happened. It will be a montage of news reports, employee interviews and still shots of workers worldwide holding up small "Boycott CAT" posters in front of recognizable famous landmarks around the globe.
Are there some workers in Vancouver willing to do a still for the documentary in front of a famous Vancouver landmark? If so please contact us at Boycott@Live.ca
